HubSpot Landing Pages: How to Create and Optimise Landing Pages in HubSpot

August 31, 2026 · 6 min read

HubSpot’s landing page tool lets you build conversion pages directly inside your portal, with forms and workflows connected automatically. If you are setting one up for the first time, this guide covers the core steps and the settings that most teams miss on the first pass.

1

Open the Landing Pages tool

In your HubSpot portal, go to Marketing > Landing Pages. Click Create and choose a template from the marketplace or start from blank. Starter and Professional tiers include the full drag-and-drop editor.

2

Set the page URL and title

Choose a short, keyword-relevant URL slug (for example /free-consultation). The page title appears in search results, so keep it descriptive and under 60 characters.

3

Build the page body

Start with a clear headline and a short paragraph of supporting copy. Add one HubSpot form below. Keep the form to the minimum fields you need: name and email or phone converts better than a long intake form on a first visit.

4

Connect the form to a workflow

Under the form settings, select or create a workflow that triggers on form submission. At minimum, send a confirmation email and notify your sales owner. This wires the page into your pipeline from day one.

5

Configure SEO settings

Open the Settings tab. Add your meta description and confirm the page title. Assign the page to a campaign if relevant. HubSpot also shows an SEO score in the page editor sidebar.

6

Publish and test

Click Publish. Submit the form yourself to verify the thank-you message appears and the lead shows up in your contact database. Check on mobile as well.

What makes a HubSpot landing page different from a regular website page?

Landing pages in HubSpot are built for a single conversion goal. Unlike a homepage or service page, they typically have minimal navigation so visitors focus on one action: fill in the form or book a call. HubSpot keeps all of these connected in the same portal, which reduces the setup work you would otherwise do by integrating separate tools.

The key differences in practice:

  • Built-in form integration: forms on a landing page create contact records automatically, with no third-party sync needed.
  • A/B testing baked in: Professional and Enterprise tiers let you split-test headlines, images, or entire page variants from the same interface.
  • Attribution tracking: HubSpot attaches the source and campaign to every contact who converts, so you can see which ads or emails drove the lead.

How do you connect a landing page to a paid campaign?

When you run a Google or Meta ad, the landing page URL becomes the ad destination. In HubSpot:

  • Go to the page settings and add the page to a campaign (Marketing > Campaigns).
  • In your ad account, use the landing page URL as the final URL for the ad.
  • Add UTM parameters to the URL in your ad platform so HubSpot logs the exact source, medium, and campaign on each contact record.

This setup means every lead from the campaign is tagged automatically. Your reporting dashboards can then show cost per lead by campaign and which pages convert best.

What should go on a thank-you page?

After someone submits the form, they land on a thank-you page or see an inline thank-you message. A well-used thank-you page does at least two things well:

  • Confirms what happens next: for example, “A consultant will contact you within one business day.” Clear next-step expectations reduce confusion and cancellations.
  • Fires conversion tracking tags: your Google Ads conversion event or Meta pixel event should trigger here so you can track completions in your ad accounts.

The thank-you page URL is also useful for setting up conversion goals in Google Analytics 4. Create an event that fires when the user reaches that specific URL.

How do you run an A/B test on a landing page in HubSpot?

A/B testing is available on Professional and Enterprise tiers. To set one up:

  • Open the landing page and click Run a test in the top menu.
  • Select what you want to test: page content, CTA text, or headline copy.
  • Set the traffic split (50/50 is the default) and let HubSpot distribute visitors automatically.
  • Check results under Reports once you have enough data. HubSpot will show which variant converted at a higher rate.

Run the test long enough to reach a meaningful sample. A test paused after 50 visits will not give a reliable result. For more on HubSpot’s testing features, see the HubSpot A/B testing guide.

How do CTAs connect to landing pages?

HubSpot CTAs are buttons or banners you place on blog posts or emails to drive visitors to your landing page. When someone clicks a CTA and converts on the landing page, HubSpot links the click and the conversion in the same contact record. This means you can report on which CTAs generate the most leads across your content. See the HubSpot CTA guide for setup steps.

Which subscription tier do you need for landing pages?

HubSpot’s landing page builder is available on all paid tiers. Starter includes landing pages with the drag-and-drop editor and basic analytics. Professional adds A/B testing along with smart content (showing different copy to different audiences) and multi-step forms. Enterprise adds adaptive testing and team-based publishing permissions.

The free CRM tier does not include the landing page builder. If you are on free and want to capture leads, use an embedded HubSpot form on an external page instead.

What settings do teams commonly miss on a first publish?

  • Meta description left blank: HubSpot auto-generates one from the page content, but a manually written 150-character description gives you more control over how the page appears in search results.
  • No campaign assignment: without a campaign, leads from the page are not tied to any reporting campaign, making attribution harder later.
  • Form not tested after publish: form settings can behave differently in preview mode versus the live page. Always submit a test lead after publishing.
  • Thank-you redirect not set: the default thank-you message is an inline confirmation. If you need to fire an ad conversion event, set a dedicated thank-you page URL as the redirect destination instead.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own domain for HubSpot landing pages?

Yes. Connect your domain in Settings > Website > Domains. Once connected, you can publish landing pages on your primary domain or a subdomain such as offers.yourdomain.com. The setup requires adding a CNAME record in your DNS provider and typically takes a few minutes to propagate.

Does the landing page builder work without Marketing Hub?

No. The landing page builder is part of Marketing Hub. If you are on Sales Hub or Service Hub only, you do not have access to this tool. You can still embed standalone HubSpot forms on external pages built in another platform.

Can I see which contacts came from which landing page?

Yes. Each contact record shows a First conversion and Recent conversion property that logs the form and page. You can filter your contacts list or build a report by conversion page to see which pages drive the most leads.

How many landing pages can I create?

HubSpot does not publish a hard cap on landing page count for paid tiers. Teams typically create pages by campaign or by audience segment. The limit you will reach first is on the number of custom domains you can connect, not on the page count itself.
