How to Customize the Properties Display on the Records

The properties displayed on records help your team access key information at a glance. You can customize the layout of these properties in the left sidebar when viewing a record, and in the preview sidebar when hovering over one. HubSpot gives you flexibility to personalize this layout per user, team, or across your entire account.

 

Where Properties Appear

Properties are shown in:

  • The left sidebar of an individual record view

  • The preview sidebar when hovering over a record in a list

If property list cards in these sidebars are editable, users can customize the properties displayed—depending on their permissions.


 

How to Customize Record Properties

  1. In your HubSpot account, go to CRM, then select your object:

    • Contacts: CRM > Contacts

    • Companies: CRM > Companies

    • Deals: CRM > Deals

    • Tickets: CRM > Tickets

    • Leads (BETA)

    • Custom objects: CRM > [Your Custom Object]

  2. Click the name of a record to open it, or hover and click Preview.

  3. In the left or preview sidebar, click Actions, then select Customize properties.

Inside the customization view:

  • Add properties: Click Add properties, then check the boxes next to the properties you want to include.

  • Remove properties: Click the delete icon next to any property. If it’s greyed out, it’s a system default and cannot be removed.

  • Reorder properties: Click and drag properties into the desired order.

  • Reset to defaults: Click Reset to system defaults to revert the section to the original layout. Confirm the reset in the dialog box.

  • Click Save to apply your changes.

  • Changes apply only to that section of the sidebar. Other sections will remain unchanged unless customized separately.

Customizing record properties ensures that your teams have quick access to the data that matters most—improving efficiency and accuracy across your CRM.
