How to edit HubSpot user permissions

Managing user permissions in HubSpot ensures that every team member has the right level of access to tools, features, and data—improving security, organization, and efficiency. You can assign permissions individually or use roles to streamline the process.

Access the User Permissions Screen

  1. In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the left sidebar, go to Users & Teams.

  3. Click on a user’s name to edit their individual permissions.

  4. Use the permission tabs (CRM, Marketing, Sales, Service, etc.) to assign or restrict access.

  5. Click Save to apply changes.

  6. To edit multiple users at once, select the checkboxes next to their names, then apply bulk permission updates.

Assign Roles and Permissions

  • To assign a role, click the Role dropdown on the user details screen, then choose the appropriate role.

Important Notes:

  • View ≠ View-only Seat

  • Edit access allows deleting activities.

  • Communicate access is required for logging/editing activities.

  • Ownership is determined by the default or custom owner property.
